Dr Judy Henderson Joins Hall of Fame

 

Judy Isabel Henderson AO, MBBS, FRACP

                     

 

The Coffs Harbour High School Community was both honoured and delighted to induct 

Dr Judy Henderson into their Hall of Fame this week.   

Judy Henderson attended Coffs Harbour High School from 1957 to 1961 graduating with honours in mathematics.    She studied at Sydney University obtaining her medical degree in 1968.

In 1974 Judy qualified as a paediatrician and worked for 10 years in Nepal and established a training program for village health workers in the remote far west of the country.   

On her return to Australia she became involved in international development and was the inaugural Chair of Oxfam International in 1995.

Judy was a Commissioner on the World Commission on Dams in 1997 and a member of the Asian Development Bank's Inspection Panel in 2001. 

She was the inaugural Chair in 2002 of the Amsterdam-based Global Reporting Initiative which is setting global standards for sustainability reporting.

Judy was a board member of the NSW Environment Protection Authority and Chair of Australian Ethical Investments Ltd. 

From 2004 to 2011 she was the Chair of the Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority and a member of the Australian Landcare Council from 2010 to 2013.

In 1998 Judy was made an Officer of the General Division of the Order of Australia for her services to developing countries and to the community.
